Interdisciplinary Humanities Teacher | Athletic Coach | Scholar of Music, Technology, and Culture
I am an interdisciplinary educator, coach, and scholar whose work bridges history, literature, music, media, and cultural studies. With experience in independent schools, public schools, and higher education, I design discussion-based, student-centered learning environments that emphasize critical thinking, analytical writing, collaboration, and intellectual curiosity.
My AIM teaching philosophy is grounded in Active learning, Interdisciplinary thinking, and a Multicultural commitment to comparative study and empathetic engagement. Influenced by the Harkness tradition and by my education at Northfield Mount Hermon School, I strive to create classrooms that are intellectually rigorous, inclusive, and collaborative, where students are encouraged to ask questions, interpret evidence, communicate thoughtfully, and connect ideas across disciplines.
Over the past two decades, I have taught history, English, music, media studies, and writing at both the secondary and university levels while also coaching athletics and mentoring students. My teaching combines discussion, primary-source analysis, collaborative inquiry, and creative project work to support a wide range of learners and help students develop confidence, resilience, and independence.
I am also a researcher and co-founder of a scholarly network focused on the history and culture of live music production. My publications and creative work explore the relationships among music, technology, culture, and community.
Across all my roles, I seek to help students and collaborators build communities where learning is active, empathetic, and shared.
